For many years the celebration of the City Day begins with the solemn ceremony of raising the Flag of Odessa on the Dumskaya Square.

Festivities timed to the City Day were attended by the city and region authorities, the city's honorary citizens, official delegations and honorary guests from different countries of the world, the clergy, the deputies of Odessa City Council, veterans, representatives of various branches of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, schoolchildren and guests of the city.
