Italian delegation headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy in Ukraine Mr. Davide La Cecilia visited Odessa on June 10, 2017. At the meeting with Ambassador of Italy the mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov stressed that Ukraine is connected with Italy not only by diplomatic, but also friendly relations. According to him Odessa is a vivid example of this.
"Italians were also among the founders of Odessa. This spirit is still preserved in our city for today. And it is so thanks largely to our fruitful cooperation in various spheres: cultural, tourist, economic" noted Gennadiy Trukhanov.
After the meeting, the mayor of Odessa invited Mr. Davide La Cecilia for a tour by Primorsky Boulevard, where the Italian Ambassador highly appreciated the work carried out by the city authorities on restoration of Potemkin Stairs and creation of Istanbul Park.
The sides have also discussed the possibility of creation an Italian cultural center in Odessa, which, of course, will be a worthy continuation of cooperation in the cultural sphere.
