The grand opening of Istanbul Park was held in Odessa on May 26, 2017. The opening of the park coincided with the 20th anniversary of establishing twin-city relations between Odessa and Istanbul. Turkish delegation headed by the mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbaş paid a visit to Odessa to participate in the celebrations.

 
"This is my third visit to Odessa, and every time I note its rapid development. I want to thank everyone who participated in creation of this park and note that this is only the beginning of our new cooperation" said Kadir Topbaş.

 
The mayor of Istanbul noted that today's opening of the park is very symbolic. It was on this day three years ago that Gennadiy Trukhanov took up the duties of the mayor of Odessa.

 
A festive concert with participation of creative teams of Odessa and Turkey was held in honour of the opening of Istanbul Park.
On this day, the special stamp’s cancellation procedure was held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of twin-city relations between Odessa and Istanbul.

 
The holiday ended with festive fireworks.
