On January 21, 2019, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Odessa handed over to the maternity hospital No. 5 medical equipment purchased for funds raised at the Charitable Diplomatic Christmas Fair. In addition, the diplomats donated to the maternity hospital universal apparatus for prolonged mechanical ventilation and a refrigerator for medicines.

“For the last 4 years we have paid great attention to the medical institutions of the city: creating a comfortable and safe environment, improving the quality of services. I am grateful to the diplomatic corps accredited in Odessa. It is always with us and makes a huge contribution to the development of the future of Ukraine - our children,” said Gennadiy Trukhanov.

In the Maternity Hospital No 5 were created all the conditions for the delivering babies and the care of premature infants. In 2014, at the expense of the city budget, a new resuscitation, respiratory and tracking equipment of European quality was procured for the maternity hospital, which made it possible to achieve European survival rates for infants with extremely low birth weight (from 500 grams). Under the “Health” program, the city purchased an ambulance to save the lives of newborn children. In 2018, for the funds raised at the previous diplomatic fair, the children's hospital named after B.Y. Reznik got capnograph designed to expand the functionality of the reanimobile. It is completed with special heated mattresses to create for babies conditions like near the mother’s heart.
