On October 2, 2018, the Vice Mayor of Odessa Svetlana Bedrega met with representatives of the Christmas Convoy International Charitable Foundation, members of Association the Round Table Clemens Michael Christmann and Thomas Führer.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Labor and Social Policy and the Department of International Relations of Odessa City Council, the City Center for Humanitarian Aid, Information and Economic Support, the public organization “The St. Paul Rehabilitation Center”.
The meeting was also attended by hearing impaired children from low-income families, who had a rest in a youth camp in Germany this summer and received modern deaf-aids.
The participants enjoyed a photo presentation about the children’s rest in the recreation camp in the German city of Kaub.
“One of the main tasks of the city authorities, and the mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, is to take care of young residents of Odessa, especially orphans, who have health problems, so that they can get an education, relax and improve their health in summer. This year in July, the hearing impaired children of Odessa were in Germany thanks to our partners and financial support of the city. We are sincerely grateful to the representatives of the German side, to everyone who was involved in organizing this trip, and we hope for further cooperation so that children's dreams continue to come true, ”Svetlana Bedrega said.

The charitable organization “Christmas Convoy” (“Weihnachtspäckchenkonvoi gGmbH”), Association the Round Table since 2014 have been providing charitable humanitarian assistance to medical, social institutions, organizations and socially unprotected categories of Odessa.
In four years, twelve humanitarian aids were taken, with a total weight of 192.3 tons and worth 411.7 thousand euros.
In addition, for the second year in a row, with the support of the charitable organization “Round Table”, children of socially unprotected categories are being rehabilitated in a children's camp in the city of Kaub.
So, in summer 2017, 20 orphans and children under guardianship rested in a health care institution,and in July of this year - 30 children who are hard of hearing. During the summer holidays, the German side provided children with deaf-aids of a new generation, after conducting a medical examination, selecting and adjusting the devices, taking into account the hearing characteristics of each child.
