On September 2, 2018, on City Day, the central part of the Greek Park was opened.
The ceremony was attended by: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, the Mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov, the Mayor of Piraeus Yiannis Moralis, the founder of the charitable foundation Panteleimon Boumbouras, heads of the region, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Ukraine, Honorary citizens of Odessa, representatives of the Greek Diasporas and guests from Greece, Odessa citizens and the other honorary persons.
"Another beautiful sight appeared on the map of Odessa. I am grateful to Mikhail Reva for the beautiful sculpture of the fountain. I thank all Ukrainian and Greek builders, designers and the Greek Diaspora. And, of course, special thanks to Panteleinon Boumbouras. The Greek park is not just a park, it's a part of soul and love for our city, "said the Mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov.
For the first time a project with a panoramic elevator in the park, which will allow mothers with carriges and people with limited mobility to enter the park has been implemented in Odessa. Two new descents from Primorsky Boulevard to the upper terrace of the park were organized.
And most importantly, the slope was strengthened, which allowed to keep this green zone and Primorsky Boulevard. This is a colossal work, the result of which will serve the people of Odessa for decades.
Panteleimon Boumbouras stressed that today was the opening of the first and most ambitious stage of improvement - the entrance and the art zone. By the end of March 2019, it is planned to complete the second phase of creation of the Greek Park. There will be opened the Museum of Greek Culture, a playground for children and the other.
