Repair and restoration work of one of the main Odessa sights - Potemkin Stairs - was awarded an international award. This information became known at the meeting of the executive committee of Odessa City Council (August 30, 2018).
Restoration of the Potemkin Stairs in Odessa became one of the winners in the International Contest in the field of construction "Modernization of the Year" European Award "in the nomination" Renovation of the public object ".
In total, more than 460 projects from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe took part in the competition for the construction of the "Modernization of the Year" European Award "- 2017. The awarding ceremony took place in Warsaw on August 24, 2018.
During the meeting of the executive committee of Odessa City Council, the award and diploma were handed over to the mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov.

Potemkin (Primorsky, Giant, Boulevard) Stairs is an architectural monument of national importance, erected on Primorsky Boulevard in 1837-1841 by the project of architect F.K. Boffo. Earlier repair and restoration work of this monument of architecture took place in 1933.
The international competition in the field of construction "Modernization Of The Year" European Award was created to stimulate the restoration of the architectural heritage, as well as support construction activities aimed at improving and optimizing the urban environment in general and urban development in particular.
