On September 13 - 14, 2018, the conference City Health International - "Health in the City" - will be held in Odessa. The conference is held annually from 2012 and this year will be held for the first time in Eastern Europe. The event will be held under the motto "Healthy Cities in an Era of Change".
The organizers of the conference are: Odessa City Council, International Public Health Alliance, AFEW International (Netherlands) and Knowledge Action Change (Great Britain).
Over 300 representatives from all over the world will take part in the conference, including prominent politicians, mayors of European cities, doctors, urbanists, information technology specialists, and public figures.
More than 50 speakers will deliver reports, among them: Professor Michel Kazatchkine, Special Adviser on HIV / AIDS of the Joint UN Program in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Dr. David Vlachov - Professor of Epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, USA, Ingrid van Beck, Professor of the Institute Kirby (Australia) and the other leading experts.
In addition to the main part of the conference, an open-air zone will be organized in Shevchenko Park near the Quarantine Wall on September 13-14, which will include lectures and trainings on health, doctors' consultations, sports master classes, and activities for children. The schedule of the open-air zone will be presented in the nearest future.
The prestigious international conference "Health in the City" will be held in Odessa due to the priority attention that the city authorities pay to public health. Throughout 2017-2018, Odessa has joined a number of global initiatives, including the Paris Declaration, a Memorandum on Cooperation with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Zero TB Cities Declaration, the Memorandum with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) under the global program "The Child and Youth Friendly Community".
The information received during the conference will be used to further development and implementation measures on improving the health status of Odessa citizens and the life quality in the city.
