For many years on the eve of Christmas, diplomatic missions accredited in Odessa are joining efforts to raise funds for the purchase of equipment for Odessa medical institutions. So, on December 16, 2017 the VII Charitable Diplomatic Christmas Fair was held in the concert and exhibition hall of Odessa Sea Port.
The diplomats handed over equipment purchased for the funds collected at the VII Diplomatic Fair to Odessa City Children's Hospital.
Doyen of the diplomatic corps accredited in Odessa, the Consul General of Romania Mr. Emil Rapcea noted that many countries today want to develop relations with Odessa. It is recognition of the fact that Odessa is a beautiful European city.
"Becoming a traditional fair demonstrates the respect of our countries to this beautiful city, the cultural capital of Ukraine. Of course, it is needed to thank all the organizers and participants of the fair. But the greatest gratitude is to Odessa citizens. They appreciated our respect for the city: every year the number of fair visitors grows, the amount of collected funds increases, "said Mr. Emil Rapcea.
On March 13, 2018, the Odessa Children's Hospital named after B. Reznik was supplemented by modern heating system for premature babies with an extremely low body weight (from 500 grams). The system allows creating conditions close to the physiological state of the child in the womb of the mother. This is very important for the process of maturation and nursing.
Diplomats have also handed over to doctors a capnograph to expand the functionality of a mobile icu for newborns. This device allows controlling the correctness of carrying out artificial ventilation, which should be very gentle for neonates with extremely low weight.
"Thank you for such sensitivity and love to our city. The greatest value is human life. Thanks to their professionalism Odessa doctors do miracles. Our task is to help them by providing the most modern diagnostic and medical equipment. And we are gradually moving towards our goal, including participation of the diplomatic corps, "said the Mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov.
