While being on a working visit to Athens, the mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov visited the Park of Environmental Education and Profitable Utilization on January 22, 2018.

 
"For our city, the issue of sorting and recycling household waste is gaining importance every day. In Athens, once again I had an opportunity to study the experience of Greece in this area and visit the first in Europe Park of ecological education and profitable utilization. Last year, we have already discussed the possibility of investing in the opening of a similar park in Odessa with representatives of European Commission. The dialogue continues."- said Gennadiy Trukhanov.

 
The city authorities of Athens and the employees of the Park set the task to educate the public in the questions of environment from the very childhood, as well as help the citizens to participate more actively in the process of waste processing, including the training in techniques for sorting and recycling household waste. The program of educational classes is approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic and is compulsory for schoolchildren of Athens.

The park of ecological education in Greece is a complex of objects:
- Automats for sorting and pressing waste with the issuance of remuneration or the other types of rewarding participants in the recycling process;
- a workshop of eco-education, which creates goods and art pieces from materials to be disposed of;
- a hall for environmental games, where are conducted trainings in the form of games, which allows to form an understanding of the benefits of utilization and protection of the environment for people;
- Amphitheater - a multi-functional hall for musical and theatrical performances related to ecology and nature;
- Center for Environmental Education, which provides thematic lessons for all age groups.
