Two years ago a pair of Amur tigers in Odessa Zoo got modern, spacious and comfortable tiger housing.
Not only visitors of the Zoo liked the new enclosure, the tigers liked it too. It was here that the tigers began to multiply.
After reconstruction of tiger’s housing, the staff of the zoo began to create an updated bear enclosure. At the beginning of the large-scale reconstruction, a large, comfortable winter cubs with individual lairs was built for bears.
Then, around the old bear cub, was erected a huge walk-out cage. To the end of reconstruction there was built a temporary 15-meter latticed corridor, through which the bears moved from the old bear cub to the new ones. Thanks to the use of such accommodation, it was possible to avoid the medical immobilization of animals.
After that, it became possible to demolish the old bear cub and finish the construction of the walkway enclosure, as well as the swimming pool for the bears.
The grand opening of the new bear enclosure with an area of about 500 square meters is scheduled on the spring time, when the bears come out of the lairs.
