According to the good tradition established in Odessa, the first child born in the new year receives a baby carriage as a present from the city authorities.

In 2018, the boy Artem became the first newborn who appeared on January 1, at the maternity hospital number 1. On the first day of the new year - 12 newborns - 8 girls and 4 boys - were born at maternity hospital number 1. In total 29 children were born in Odessa on January 1, 2018. Odessites whose babies were born on the first day of 2018, have also received gifts.

The deputy mayor Svetlana Bedrega came to congratulate the newborns and their parents. Vice-mayor has also got acquainted with the work of the maternity hospital №1, which is provided with modern medical equipment and nutrition organization. Earlier, the Infectious Disease Control Organization for Compliance with European Hygienic Standards awarded maternity hospital number 1 the title "Clean Hospital, Safe for the Patient".
