Charitable Diplomatic Christmas Fair held in Odessa.

On December 16, 2012, for the second consecutive time, Odessa’s diplomats gathered at the charitable diplomatic Christmas Fair, which was held under the patronage of the Odessa Mayor Alexei Kostusyev and chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Eduard Matviychuk.

The visitors to the fair, which was held at Odessa Marine Station, were able to taste a variety of national cuisines of 21 countries participating the fair, purchase souvenirs, watch performances by the creative groups. And what is the most important thing – they could help accomplish the main goal the fair - to raise funds for the purchase of «Easystat» blood gas analyzer for Odessa Regional Children's Hospital.

"At the fair, we offer traditional Georgian souvenirs: daggers, handmade pottery for the wine and brandy and authentic Georgian wine," - said the Consul General of Georgia Mr. Teimuraz Nishnianidze.

The pavilion, which displayed their culture and consumer goods of the representatives of Greece, huge line formed for olives and olive oil. Poland pleased Odessa with the fragrant Bigos and koshenkoy - traditional Polish dishes, and Lithuania treated our citizens with the wedding cake - shakotis, which is not sold in Ukraine, at all.

"We decided to surprise Odessa citizens with the exotic goods from the Republic of South Africa: masks made by the local artisans, pictures made of bamboo, colorful jewelry. Odessa is also able to acquire the world-famous South African wine, for its taste is second in the world, surpassed only by the French one" - said the Honourable Consul of the Republic of South Africa in Odessa Mrs. Larisa Poplavskaya.

According to Anatoly Popov, Director of the "Odessa Diplomatic Club" SO, charitable events are traditionally organized during the diplomatic fair. For instance, in last year's first diplomatic Fair in Odessa has raised more than UAH 200 000, which the organizers spent on purchasing a modern tool for complex neurosurgical surgery.
