the IX Odessa International Film Festival

The IX Odessa International Film Festival will be held from 13 to 22 of July, 2018.
On June 14, took place a press conference of the IX Odessa International Film Festival, where were announced competitive programs. 

1011 films from 95 countries were submitted for participation in the OIFF-2018 competitive programs. The committee has selected 12 full-length films from 19 countries: Germany, Austria, Poland, India, Ukraine, Greece, Monaco, Belarus, USA, Russia, Romania, France, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Palestine, Norway, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. 

The films will compete for the Grand Prix of the OIFF "Golden Duke" and the other awards of the international competition. 

For the first time the OIFF-2018 will be opened with movie "A Woman in War" created by specialists from Ukraine together with Iceland and France. 

On the second day of the film festival on Potemkin Stairs will be shown works "Black and White" (1923) and "Safety Last" directed by Seme Taylor and Fred Naimaer. 

Special guest of OIFF 2018 is the winner of the prize of the Cannes Festival "Golden Camera", Japanese director Naomi Kawase. 

The program of the festival will feature the best world cinema hits, as well as the Ukrainian retrospective. 

By the 70th anniversary of Israeli cinema, there will be presented 5 films introducing the cultural diversity of Israel to the audience. 

A program of films and cartoons for children has been prepared. Young viewers can watch it for free. 

The national program of the film festival includes 5 full-length films and 14 short films. 

Famous directors will conduct master classes for those who wish to join the cinema art and raise their level of mastery. 

The venues for the festival's events will be: Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theater, Odessa Theater of Musical Comedy, the cinema "Rodina", the Green Theater and Potemkin Stairs.
