Today, on September 8, 2017, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, as part of his working visit to Odessa, and the Mayor of the city Gennadiy Trukhanov solemnly laid a symbolic capsule on occasion of construction a new runway in Odessa International Airport.
According to Volodymyr Groysman, 1,679.94 million hryvnias have been allocated for construction of the runway, of which 500 million will be financed this year.
"We will find a resource, so Odessa residents will receive a new lane in 30 months. This will develop both regional and the whole country’s economy "- the Head of Government said.
The construction of a new runway will not affect the operation of the airport, so the current strip will continue to receive and send airplanes.
"This is a historic event for our city, to which we have been going for many years. Over the past three years, we have made tremendous progress, which allowed us to declare Odessa as a tourist capital, as well as a city with a favourable investment climate. I am confident that after the completion of all the works, Odessa will strengthen its positions on the tourist and investment maps of the world" said Gennadiy Trukhanov.
